Washington Wind Symphony

a Puget Sound based wind ensemble

June 10, 2006 - 8:00 p.m.
Saturday Night with Sousa

The Pacific Northwest's premier wind band, Washington Wind Symphony, will present SATURDAY NIGHT WITH SOUSA, our final concert of the season. Not only will you hear stirring, toe-tapping march music by America's favorite, John Phillip Sousa, but also a variety of other aural delights in keeping with the Sousa style.

Sousa was known both for his service as the conductor of the Marine Band as well as his very own touring Sousa Band. His touring band gave concerts that included music by great composers such as Verdi, Mozart, Stravinsky, Rogers and Hammerstein and other march kings like Fillmore. But don't worry—there will be plenty of Sousa's music for our friends gathered at the Kirkland Performance Center. We will fill the hall with marvelous melodies and conclude with the rousing National March of the United States of America... The Stars and Stripes Forever.

This evening we will also feature our principle saxophonist Scott Granlund, performing Adagio und Allegro, Op. 70 by Robert Schumann.

Don't miss this opportunity to fill your heart full of beautiful and captivating music performed by the members of the Washington Wind Symphony.
