Program Set for January Concert

Our next guest conductor,  Dr. John Falskow has selected some great music for our next concert on January 27th.  We are excited to start rehearsing it beginning in early November.

The concert will feature a wide variety of music by American composers.  Some will be well known to all such as Leonard Bernstein, Danny Elfman (Justice League, Edward Scissorhands, Batman and so many more) and John Williams while others are well known within the band music community such as Frank Ticheli and William Bolcom.

The longer works include Frank Ticheli’s challenging Symphony No. 2 which is an exhilarating three movement work with titles that refer to celestial light.  Another significant piece we are performing will be Escapades for Alto Sax and Concert Band by John Williams.  You may know it better as the score from “Catch Me If You Can”, the incredible true story of Frank Abagnale (Leonardo Di Caprio).  It’s a great piece and we are honored to have Fred Winkler, one of the leading concert saxophonists in the PNW joining us to play the solo part.

Mark you calendars, it’s going to be a great concert!
