It was a sad but wonderful day. As our longtime conductor Dr. Edwin Powell stepped down to devote more time to family and other opportunities, his time with us culminated in a wonderful performance of Johan DiMeij’s fantastic UFO Concerto. Thats UFO as in Eupho, short for Euphonium and the band was thrilled to have Jason Gilliam be the fine soloist performing this work. Here is a short extract from the performance, a beautiful Euphonium trio, with the band’s own great players supporting Mr Gilliam in this excerpt. We’ll be posting more videos soon.
